My Adventure:
After an indulgent Xmas day we my partner and I needed a good dose of detox and relaxation. We headed North to Brunswick Heads but decided to stop for a few days to camp at Mungo Brush, Myall Lakes. Our concerns that the camp ground would be too crowded disappeared when we discovered a large number of secluded unpowered sites were still available (first in, best dressed!).
We pulled in, set up the Coleman Compound and waited for our friends to come and join us. Thankfully we stocked up on the way in at the Bi-Lo located in Tea Gardens and had all the supplies we would need for the few days (ice was still available about 2km up the road if needed).
Our time was spent kayaking (kayaks for hire up the road at Myall Shores Resort), swimming, body surfing and generally relaxing.
This is the perfect place to camp if you are looking for water based activities but choose your time carefully, its proximity to Sydney means that it does become extremely crowded at peak times. It is good to know that there are camp grounds dotted all over the Myall Lakes region and plenty that are only accessible by boat.
Overall a simple place to camp, well set up and brilliantly maintained by NPWS.
