Hawks Nest Beach Caravan Park – Booner Street, Hawks Nest, 

Location:               

Hawks Nest is located on the northern shore of Nelsons Bay, 7 minutes off the pacific highway and about 45 minutes from Newcastle.

Lodging:                  

Powered camp and caravan sites as well as 3 different styles of cabins are available. Powered campsites range from $20 - $30. During school hoildays there is a 7-night minmum booking required.

Facilities:                  

Toilets, showers, coin operated BBQs, undercover eating areas, beach volleyball area, coin operated laundry & kiosk.

Attractions:              

The caravan park is located in an ideal location with the main beach, golf club, shops and restaurants only 2 minutes walk away. It is an easy walk to Jimmy’s beach (a calm bay with a view of Nelsons Bay) as well as the river, jetty’s and picnic areas. There are also plenty of boat ramps, fishingspots and 4WD access points onto the beach.

My Adventure:        

The Hawks Nest camping trip is a bit of a ritual for my extended family and friends. About 30 – 40 of us head up to Hawks Nest every year for the Easter long weekend and book about 10 campsites so there is more than enough room for the tents, caravans and huge communal marquee erected in the middle each year for some shelter from the rain.As usual the wind caused havoc and the heavy rain put a stop to a few days out but our new Coleman tent stood up to the weather with only a shiver. Very impressed! When the sun came out we headed to the beaches, went bike riding, fishing & 4 wheel driving & when the clouds rolled back in we retreated to the coffee shops or the golf club for the footy and dinner! All in all it was a great trip. Even with the rain between the 40 of us we always found something to do! Very relaxing and a really nice spot.
